Youths in Unity State have got a new youth leader under the South Sudan National Youth Union.
Nyadin Lual Gai took the seat unopposed after some candidates reportedly fell out.
She took up the seat during a convention held in Bentiu on Friday.
Journalists were denied access to the convention.
Speaking to Juba Echo by phone after assuming office, Gai thanked the other candidates for giving her the seat.
“We were initially four candidates, two stepped down earlier and the last candidate, Taker Goah Riak stepped down today to allow a gender to take lead,” she said.
Gai said her first priority would be forming an inclusive leadership board that will work for the reconciliation and healing in Unity State.
79 delegates representing the seven counties of unity state attended the convention.
