South Sudan’s Upper Nile University has joined hands with the Kenya based Zetech University to collaborate in various fields of studies.

A delegation from Zetech University visited South Sudan to explore chances of collaborative work between the two higher institutions of learning, Marial Awou Yol, the Vice Chancellor for Upper Nile University told reporters in Juba on Friday.

“We talked about joint work in teaching, exchange programs of students and join research work,” Yol said.

“A university is not an island, it is an integrated system of schools of higher learning between countries where they work together jointly to tackle problems facing countries like political problems, economic, social, environmental problems,” he said.

“These are areas where researchers and academicians can come together and do research to find solutions to problems facing citizens of the country.”

Njenga Munene, the Vice Chancellor of Zetech University said the collaboration is part of the regional integration.

“We had a meeting to agree on the areas that we think need collaboration,” Munene said.

“For the University of Upper Nile, as they prepare to go back to Malakal they will work to strengthen their ICT both at diploma level and degree level and we will even be supportive of that.”
