More SPLM-IO soldiers defect to government troops in Unity State

34 soldier loyal to SPLM-IO General Tito Biel Wieh have joined Sudan People’s Defence Forces on Tuesday.

The 34 soldiers followed their commander who defected last week are from Mom training center.

South Sudan People’s Defense Force Division four (4) spokesperson, Captain Abot Wai Abot has confirmed the defection of the 34 soldiers from SPLM-IO to government.

“We are aware about the defection of 34 soldiers from SPLM-IO in Mom training center and they are following general Tito Biel Wieh who joined government forces in Joknyang cantonment site last week. They defected and they are going to Division four (4) headquarters for reintegration.” Said Captain Abot.

Mayiandit County commissioner, Doctor Gatluak Nyang has also confirmed the defection of 34 soldiers from SPLM-IO to government. He said the defectors fought with armed youths loyal to SPLM-IO in Tutnyany Boma under Mayiandit County, and fighting wounded two people.

“A 17-year old girl and one soldier (defector) were wounded.” Said Tutnyany.

This defection continues, even now three military officers from SPLM-IO have announced their defection to general Gatwech Dual, some of teh defectors are raiding cattle, but I have returned the cattle to the owners now.” Adde Tutnyany
