UN enhances mobility of inmates to access justice

The United Nations Development Programs has boosted the mobility of inmates to access justice in South Sudan through the donation of vehicles to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

According to the UNDP Resident Representative, Dr. Samuel G. Doe, the vehicles will be use to provide access to justice across ten states and the three administrative areas in South Sudan

“21 vehicles will be presented; 14 trucks will be given out,” Doe told reporters in Juba on Monday.

Central Equatoria State will receive two trucks while other States will receive one each, he said.

Seven land cruisers will go to the high courts in five States including Lakes, Jonglei, Warrap, Western Equatoria, and Northern Bar -El- Gazal.

The Chief Justice of the High Court, Chan Reec Madut appreciated UNDP’s continued support to the justice system in South Sudan.

“Thank you to UNDP is not enough. I want to acknowledge your continuous support to the ministry of justice during our difficult time,” Madut said.

Dr. Gabriel Isaac Awow, the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs appreciated the efforts of UNDP in supporting the justice system in South Sudan.
