A truck transporting 40 tons of food aid has overturned in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and caught fire.
The incident occurred along Kuom road in Aweil town on Wednesday morning.
The truck was carrying food assortments including sorghum, cooking oil, Plumbynut and nutrition flour.
According to the spokesman of the Traffic Police in the State, Abuk Maria, the driver was over speeding.
“The driver came while over speeding on the curved road, no one has been hurt among the five people who were in the car including the driver,” Maria told Juba Echo.
Residents also stole off some commodities which escaped the fire, she said.
According to one of the occupants of the truck who preferred anonymity, it was transporting World Food Program food assistances from Juba to Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.
“The items in the truck are for World Food program organization. We loaded this truck from Juba and Northern Bhar el Ghazal state was our final destination before the incident happened. We all came out safe from the accident because we came out early before the truck started burning,” the occupant said.
