Recently, the 9th Chinese UNPOL contingent in UNMISS held a completion ceremony for the renovation project of the DONGXING Police station in WAU. Supported by the Tianyuan Construction Group of China, which is constructing the China-aided Jur Bridge in WAU, the renovation started at the end of September that includes repainting bulidings, compound groud rehabitation, refurnishing offices and donation of furniture.
The DONGXING police station was named after Mr. SUN Dongxing, a former Chinese UNPOL who donated his personal savings of US$8000 to rebuild the police station in 2008. He also donated US$5000 to another two local police stations for the improvement of the working conditions of local police. The latest renovation project serves as a commemoration to his contributions in promoting the friendship and cooperation between Chinese and South Sudanese police service. It will also enhance the capacity of the local police to deliver public service.
