The Deputy Commissioner-General of South Sudan’s National Revenue Authority, Africano Mande has revealed that the country is getting 5 billion South Sudanese pounds monthly from Non-oil revenue collections
Africano made the statement after meeting with President Salva Kiir on Thursday.
He said, the Revenue Authority recorded a tremendous achievements in the tax collection.
He said the tax body had tripled the amount of revenue being collected monthly this year.
Africano further said the institution is now also collecting more than 10 million US dollars monthly from the non- oil revenue.
“The major concern now is that as South Sudanese Pounds is gaining value, we also want to see that prices move down in the Market” Said Africano.
President Salva Kiir last year constituted a Public Finance Management an oversight Committee and an Economic Crisis Management Committee headed by one of then five vice presidents in the country, Dr. James Wani Igga. The committee was tasked with improving non-oil revenue collection.
Africano says the Revenue Authority is following recommendations by the crisis management committee and that’s why there is improvement in revenue collection.
