South Sudan’s self-proclaimed Prophet who was arrested over the weekend for treason will be produced before the court of law on Monday as the Police have completed the primary investigations, the Police Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin Buolo has confirmed.

Pastor Abraham Chol Maketh was arrested on Sunday for charges related to subversion, after prophesying that the President Salva Kiir tenure of Office was coming to an end.

“Yesterday (Monday) the police winded up with investigations. However, the case is supposed to be taken to court as of Monday,” he said.

The case will be heard in County court as the hearings would be opened to the public, the Police official added.

“Prophet Abraham has a lot of charges, about four charges according to criminal law section, in brief. He is accused of violating public order, subverting constitutional government, abuse of Religious and noble beliefs and publishing or communicating false Statements,” he said.

Days before South Sudan 10th independence anniversary, Abraham Chol said he had a heavenly premonition that President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar will be deposed from their seats by July 9, 2021.

According to the viral video showing the arrest of the self-proclaimed Prophet Abraham Chol, men dressed in police and army uniform walked into Abraham Chol’s compound, then into the bedroom where they asked him to follow them.

Abraham Chol could be heard inquiring whether the officers were sent by President Salva Kiir, and asked why they would arrest him at night and not during the daytime.

Chol arrest comes less than a day after a purported arrest warrant was issued by a public prosecutor in Central Equatoria state.

Abraham Chol Maketh of Cush International Church was jailed for one month in May for defying coronavirus order.
