South Sudanese Refugee, Jaiksana releases first ever song.

Jaiksana, a South Sudanese Refugee singer and humanitarian has taken on making music and his first single from his upcoming album titled ‘ I am Still Alive’ is finally on all digital stores.

The lyrics of his song ‘ Where is home’ is entirely moments & lessons handpicked from his personal experiences in searching for belonging – He talks about being a refugee, family and mental health in one song and it’s an absolute ear worm.

Jaiksana is an up-and-coming rap musician from South Sudan whose music is greatly shaped by his personal experiences and life.

He was born in a refugee camp in Northern Uganda where he ended up spending a significant portion of his childhood as a result of civil conflict in his home country of South Sudan.

Through his music, He explicitly explores the themes and subjects of love, family, and lifestyle, etc. bringing a perspective that is not one-sided because life is obviously not black and white.

If Jaiksana talks about love, it’s about the raw definition of it – bliss, the hate, sometimes betrayal but above all the fact that it’s a risk worth taking. He is better known for his activism and advocacy.

At the age of 19, Jaiksana helped set-up community development centre (CDC) to help as a platform to build the re-build broken social fabrics of communities and improve social cohesion.

He is currently the team leader of Platform Africa, an initiative aimed at supporting displaced communities in Uganda and South Sudan through programs that emphasize media skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation and making culture, and promoting a peaceful coexistence through peace-building, radio, and psychological support programs to improve the wellbeing of communities and advance lives through technology-led programs.
