South Sudan embraces Chinese language

The Chinese Embassy in South Sudan and the Ministry of General Education have opened a Chinese language learning center in the capital Juba.

Situated at Juba Day Secondary School, the center aims at aiding learning of the Chinese is meant to aid learning of the Chinese language and its culture.

Joseph, a Chinese language trainee told people at the launch of the center last Friday that learning Chinese is simple.

“We have just been learning Chinese for three months, and we can now speak,” Joseph said.

“This particular phase includes aspects of teaching Chinese language to students, and Chinese culture.”

The Undersecretary at the Ministry of General Education, Kuyok Abuol, said the Ministry has plans to extend learning centers for Chinese language to all the states.

“We just witnessed a very important event today and we have officiated the teaching of Chinese Language at Juba Day Secondary School initiated by the Chinese Ambassador,” Abuol told reporters.

The Ministry of Education said about 60 students from all walks of life are enrolled in the Chinese Language course.

The Chinese Language program will run for 3 years.
