Armed groups that belong to parties to the 2018 South Sudan’s peace agreement say, screening of unified forces is scheduled to be completed in the last week of 2021.

“The forces in Greater Bahr El Ghazel will form the backbone of the necessary unified forces when forces from the three regions are combined, “ said Maj.Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, the spokesman for South Sudan People’s Defense forces (SSPDF) who also doubles as team leader for Northern Bahr El Ghazel state.

“The turnout in the three training centers in Greater Bahr el Ghazel was very impressive, South Sudan People’s Defense Forces or SSPDF took the lead followed by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in or SPLA-IO and South Sudan’s Opposition Alliance Forces SSOA,” continued Koang.

Brig.Gen.Ayuen Dot, the South Sudan people’s Defense forces head of sub-committee said as the screening is finalizing in Bahr El Ghazel, those on medical leave are urged to report urgently to the camp.

“As a joint committee, we have done the work and we have unified forces in Pantit, we do not have problem with screening and unification of forces, the work is progressing well, the absent forces have been given time to turn up for screening,” said Dot.

Brig.Gen Deng Mayar Borjok, the Deputy Head of the sub-committee for South Sudan Opposition Alliance forces said only a few forces are yet to be screened.
