school children in Unity State benefit from UJOSS -CEPO solidarity support

Hundreds of school children in the flood ravaged state of Unity State yesterday benefited from the solidarity donations from Journalists and members of the public organized by Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) and Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO).

An assortment of sanitary pads and scholastic materials were distributed to school children at Lich Primary School in the state capital Bentiu.

“We have managed to distribute the materials today with the support of representatives of UJOSS and CEPO today and I am happy it has put smile on the faces of the children despite the challenging times”, said Mr. Thor Yohanes, the secretary general of Unity State Activists Network .

After the distribution, the  interim secretary general of UJOSS in Unity State Mr. Chondok Stephen welcomes the show of solidarity saying “this donation is a show of generosity from our brothers and sisters to help those children displaced by floods”

The distribution was witnessed by two government officials including the director generals of the state ministry of education and of information.

A group of eight South Sudanese journalists from both local and international media houses left Juba last Sunday for Unity State’s capital, Bentiu to deliver donations organized by UJOSS in partnership with CEPO as a show of solidarity with the flood affected families of the state and also to report on the impacts of the floods in the state.

The eight journalists are expected back in Juba tomorrow Thursday.
