President Salva Kiir reconstitutes parliament.

South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir has on Monday evening reconstituted a new parliament in accordance with the country’s 2018 peace agreement.

The agreement signed by five groups provides for formation of a parliament comprising of five hundred fifty (550) members. A presidential decree forming the new parliament was read on a state owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (TV and Radio).
The parliament is now expanded from 400 to 550 members comprising representatives from five peace parties that signed the agreement.
President Salva Kiir has sent to parliament 332 members, Opposition group led by the current first vice president Dr. Riek Machar 128 members of parliament, another opposition group known as South Sudan’s Opposition Alliance or SSOA has sent to parliament 50 members
The Other Political Parties or OPP, another opposition faction has 30 representatives in the assembly and the Former Detainees have 10 members.
Some of the members appointed are Tut Gatluak Manime, Dr. Riak Gai Kok, David Deng Athorbei, Johnson Jongkuch Kulang, Monica Nyacut Arok, Bulen Kot Beny, Gordon Matot Tut, Dr. Aweil Maiwen from president Salva Kiir’s group.

Opposition group led by Dr. Riek Machar who is also the first vice president has among other members, Dr. Sebit Madit Johson, Yar Telar Ring Deng, Gai Mayen Luke, Dr. Achol Marial Deng, Akuc Majier Malou, Anok Abiiar Wol.

South Sudan’s Opposition Alliance has among others, Joseph Bol, Other Political Parties has Mayen Turic Bairiak among others, Former Detainees have brought in the former governor of Warrap State, Nyandeng Malek among other members.
