President Kiir travels to South Africa

President Salva Kiir Mayardit left Juba on Thursday for a working visit to Pretoria, South Africa.

Speaking to Juba Echo by phone on Thursday, President Kiir’s Press Secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny said President Kiir traveled to South Africa and is expected to hold bilateral meetings with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on issues that will strengthen and deepen relations between the two Countries.

Ateny Wek further said president Kiir will discuss issues of mutual interest that includes the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.

“The President will discuss with President Ramaphosa the challenges facing the implementation of the 2018 Revitalized peace agreement and the challenges that the government of national Unity faces” Said Ateny Wek

This the first president Kiir has travelled out of the country since March last year.

The President is accompanied by the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Beatrice Khamisa Wani according to Ateny Wek Ateny.
