President Kiir reshuffles government.

South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir Mayardit has made changes in his government on Saturday through a decree read on the state owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation, (SSBC)

President Kiir fired Nhial Deng Nhial who was a Minister of Presidential Affairs and replaced him with Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin.

General Malek Ruben Riak is relieved as Deputy Minister of Defense and Veterans’ Affairs, he is appointed ambassador to Eritrea, General Chol Thon Balok is appointed Deputy Minister of Defense and Veterans’ affairs.

President Salva Kiir also made changes in the security sector; General Santino Deng Wol has replaced General Johnson Juma Okot as Chief of Defense Forces. General Johnson Juma Okot is appointed ambassador to Belgium

General Thomas Duoth Guet is relieved from the General Intelligence Bureau, National Security Service where he was a Director General for external security; he is now appointed ambassador to Kuwait.

President Kiir did not give reasons for the reshuffle.
