By staff writer,

South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir Mayardit received a list of command structures from South Sudan’s Opposition Alliance (SSOA)on Monday
President Kiir received the list during a meeting in his office with the vice president for services cluster Hussein Abdelbagi Akol.

The Minister for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin said, President Salva Kiir Mayardit has now received the lists of the Command structures from Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition or SPLM/A-IO and SSOA, and soon, the President shall form the Unified Command, a key step towards the implementation of Chapter 2 in the 2018 peace deal.

It is expected that once the command of the armed forces is unified, the parties will then move to unify the forces and redeploy them.

That is supposed to end clashes since the armed forces will then have become one under a unified command.

President Kiir is expected to announce the unification of the command anytime this week.
