Police arrest four over gang-rape of teenager in Northern Bahr el Ghazal

Police in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State capital Aweil have arrested four people in connection with the gang-raping of a fourteen-year-old girl.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening at Bar Mayen payam of Aweil Center County.

Guot Guot Akol, the police spokesperson for Northern Bahr el Ghazal said the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday morning and the victim is currently receiving treatment at Aweil Main Hospital.

Guot said the four suspects will be arraigned in court to face the law.

“This is something that rarely occurs in Northern Bhar el Ghazal state,” Guot said.

“When we heard about the incident, the commissioner sent a car to arrest the culprits, they have been brought and investigated, they will be taken to court and the young girl is now receiving treatment at the MSF hospital in Aweil Main Hospital.”
