Military General, Bodyguard discharged from Hospital

South Sudan’s army General and his bodyguard who exchanged gun fire on Tuesday at army’s Headquarters in Juba are responding well to the treatment as both have been discharged from the Hospital. 

Dr. Chut Chep, Juba Military Hospital’s Director General told Juba Echo on Wednesday that the two didn’t have fractures instead both got minor injuries that can quickly get better. 

“General Dor’s condition is stable. He is now discharged upon his request to be treated at home,” he said. 

The military Hospital’s official also disclosed that the bodyguard’s injuries were recovering as well. 

“The bodyguard is stable too. I have recommended some medicines to support them based on my observation after diagnosing the wounds and injuries,”, he added.

Lt Gen. Peter Dor told the media on Wednesday at his residence in Jebel suburb that his condition was improving while at home.

Gen. Dor admitted that, they had a “verbal altercation between the guard and him over administrative issues and would be further investigated if they all recovered from nursing the wounds. 

“We had a “misunderstanding with my bodyguard” pertaining administrative issues and can be clarified later on if investigations are done after recovering from wounds”, he said. 

The military inspector accused his bodyguard of having an intention to kill him after they quarreled in the Office. 

“The guard, after intense altercations with him, surprised me by shooting me with the intention to assassinate me. 

“When I fell on the ground, I pulled out my pistol and the guard came, to confirm whether I am dead or not but when I saw him coming, I shoot him in self-defense,” Gen. Dor concluded.

On Tuesday June 8, South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF‘s) Inspector General Peter shot each other with a bodyguard over a unknown.

The incident is yet to be investigated, according to the army’s officials.  

However, it was a first of its kind for such incident to happen at Army’s headquarters in Juba.
