Lobong renews commitment to sustainable peace, stability

The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State Louis Lobong has on Sunday assured citizens in the region of his government’s commitment to consolidate sustainable peace and stability in the state. 

Lobong made the remarks in his Easter message delivered at a press conference held in the state capital Torit on Sunday.

“On this occasion, I would like to assure the people of Eastern Equatoria that my administration will continue in its effort to consolidate peace stability,” the Governor said.

The assurance came after nearly two months when cattle keepers invaded Magwi County and killed over 30 people and displaced thousands to the county’s headquarters in Magwi town.

He called on citizens to embrace peace, unity, reconciliation, and forgiveness, tolerance.

The State leader further says his administration will continue to work by arresting criminals who cause havoc in the state adding some criminals have been and would be arraigned to court apprehended to face justice.

 “Many of the dangerous criminals, who were threatening the safety of the innocent people along with the high ways and other passages have been arrested and taken to face justice,” he said.

In 2021, Lobong led an aggressive search for road criminals which led to the apprehension of 29 suspected highway bandits.
