Kiir fires finance undersecretaries

In a decree read out last evening on South Sudan broadcasting corporation, President Salva Kiir has fired the first undersecretary John Deng Wal and the second undersecretary in the same ministry Ujang Anjelo Deng.

No official reason was given for the dismissal of the two technocrats.

In a separate decree, the President appointed fired second undersecretary Ujang James Karlo as the first undersecretary for ministry of finance as well. In yet another decree, the president appointed Angelo Deng Rehan as the new second undersecretary in the ministry.

John Deng Wal, the outgoing undersecretary was appointed in May 2021.He had previously served as the Director-General for the Ministry of Finance for Jonglei state and later on  as a minister for finance and planning of the defunct Fangak state.
