Juba Echo receives media equipment from the Chinese embassy

Juba Echo, South Sudan’s fastest growing media outlet has received equipment from the Chinese Embassy in Juba, aimed at enhancing its proficiency in the field.

The office communication equipment where personally delivered to Juba Echo offices by the Deputy Head of Mission, Ma Wenjun.

Wenjun expressed optimism Juba Echo is on a journey to ensure quality journalism in South Sudan.

“I know you are working hard to Sustain Juba Echo and I think Juba Echo is a very important website that makes South Sudanese voices heard,” he said.

“Our Chinese Embassy would like to establish good relationship with Juba Echo so that we can make China stories or Chinese voices to be heard by talking to the media and also create a better understanding of South Sudan to promote our brotherly friendship.”

Wenjun pledged to support Juba Echo with more equipment to help the operation of the website.

Patrick Oyet, the proprietor of Juba Echo welcomed the assistance.

“The context of South Sudan now is that media is really needed to really provide information to the public so that the public can make decisions for their lives, for their political lives and for the economy,” Oyet said while receiving Wenjun.

“There is a need for the various institutions in South Sudan to support the development of the media.”
