By Manyuon Mayen Manyuon, Juba

The Jonglei Civil Society leader Mr. David Garang Goch is released on bail on Saturday. A court hearing is scheduled for Monday.

Jonglei State’s Bor Municipality and Relief and Rehabilitation Commission says they want Mr. David charged with defamation.

Mr. David Garang Goch was arrested on Thursday for questioning the sale of President Kiir’s donated food aid meant for floods affected victims.

President Kiir donated the food in April during his visit to Bor but some of the donated food were allegedly found being sold in the market, something that Garang questioned and is suspected to have led to his arrest.

Since his arrest, Mr. David was not produced in court, at the time of his release on Saturday, prosecution called for delay to take the case to court and asked for dialogue between the Jonglei State Authorities and Mr. David, the prosecution further advised Mr. David and the Civil Society Desk in Bor to apologise to the state authorities.

The civil society is however, rejecting that call and says it’s ready to go to court.
