Torit county education supervisors trained on data collection

The Africa Educational Trust (AET) has on Wednesday conducted a three-day training based on data collection for education on-air program to county education supervisors in Eastern Equatorial State capital Torit.

Education on air is a lesson program played on radio stations for learners to attend lessons virtually.

The training aimed at collecting data for the education on-air program and to enable the supervision of the radio lessons from across the state as soon as it is launched.

The training brought about over 20 county educational supervisors, inspectors, government officials, and teachers’ representatives.

Speaking to Juba Echo in an interview, the country manager for AET Mr Jackson Okello said the role of the supervisors is to collect data from the beneficiaries of the programme.

“The role of the supervisors is to monitor the radio lessons and then to collect information from the beneficiaries on whether they are listening to the lesson over the radio or not and if there are challenges they should also let us know so that we are able to solve some of the challenges across the state,” he said.

 “The targets of the programme are school-going children. Children that are already in school are about 74,000 and children who are completely out of school, about 20,000,” he added.

Meanwhile, the minister in the state ministry of education Sammy Lopeyok Aperangole hailed the programme saying it gives outreach to some schools in the state.

One of the participants identified as Clement Loboi urged parents to participate as children’s education is very important

“Am so grateful that this partner has come in at the right time where our children have not really acquired so much in terms of learning,” Loboi said.

Sikuku Ruth another participant expressed her happiness and said the program will help the children in covering the syllabus faster.

“Am so happy with this program because it will help our children even those who have not reported then it will also help to cover the syllabus. There are actually other teachers who are very slow in presenting their lesson so this program here will help our learners at least to cover the syllabus,” says Ruth.
