The Juba Electricity Distribution Company (JEDCO) in South Sudan’s capital has gone digital in payment for power, using Mgurush, a mobile money company in the country.
Residents of Juba will now electronically top up the Juba electricity supplier Company accounts using mGurush.
JEDCO Managing Director, Wondimu Tenkir said in statement on October 1 that the new measures are part of the company’s vision of providing excellent service.
“JEDCO believes in striving for innovation and making things better, easier and more convenient for our customers,” Tenkir said.
“Rolling out the mGurush payment option is just the first step towards many different payment options. We are very aware of our customer’s demands and are working to improve our customer service at every level – from the office to online… “
As of the end of 2020 JEDCO has connected 19,624 new customers to the electricity grid in Juba.
JEDCO now says it working towards reaching 50 000 connections at the end of 2021.
