Eastern Equatoria State passes 3-year development plan

Torit, April 10 (JUBA ECHO) –The Eastern Equatoria state lawmakers on Friday passed a three-year strategic development plan meant to shore up service delivery in the area.

Peter Lokuju Lotimoi, state minister of financial planning and investment, said the 2022-2024 plan will be scrutinized by the ministry to harness the region’s natural resources for the economic benefits of its population.

“We are here to pass the presentation of strategic planning Eastern Equatoria State which is going to help the people of Eastern Equatoria”. Lotimoi told reporters after the state August House meeting in Torit.

He said the 3-year development blueprint was passed in an extraordinary sitting number 21 of the state’s reconstituted legislative assembly in Torit, the capital of Eastern Equatoria state.

The local official said the plan incorporates all the basic necessities of the citizens, noting that the objective is for the local population to realize peace dividends.

“The plans have a lot of objectives and priorities and we are expecting to deliver the service to the people of Eastern Equatoria and we are also expecting by next year, the state can do better than this year,” Lotimoi said.

He added that the strategy will be tabled to the national minister of finance, planning, and economic development for it to be included in the national budget.

“The plan is for three years, the house deliberated on it in the first reading, they were able to come up with their observations and recommendations. We appreciate it and we are going to take it to the national ministry of finance for consideration”. He added.
