Comedian blasts South Sudan media for not promoting his show.

South Sudanese stand-up comedian Ak Dans whose real names are Akau Jambo Puondak has in a recent video dubbed “Peace Agreement” criticized both alternative and mainstream media in Juba for not “saying anything” about his 2 dozens of life comedy show at the Scenius Hub on Saturday, 15th May this year.

In the video he shared on both Facebook and Twitter, he claims the show was a success only because of his “personal” efforts. Ak Dans says “these media” houses shouldn’t post when bad things happen to him because in his words, “posting when bad things happen makes people think that there is only bad things happening in his life.”

However, several media house and media mangers described his comments in the video as “uncalled for” saying the comedian can’t expect free advertising and promotion when he charges people to attend the show adding that the media has bills to clear.

They say generalizing media is not fair because the South Sudan media promotes positive stories every now and then for free.

A retweet to his post also stated there wasn’t a way he could deduce how he was assisted because, for example he doesn’t listen to all radio stations in Juba perhaps they mention his show in their broadcasts.

To which Ak Dans now changed his tone and said, “There are those bloggers that posted. It’s (the video) to those that didn’t and to many that stay silent when South Sudanese artists are doing great things and quickly write when something goes wrong.”
